New for 2020 is the Sigma GSME, a Short Scale, Grand Orchestra-bodied Electro-Acoustic guitar with a 23.5” scale length and 000 body depth. The GSME benefits from all of Sigma’s core features, coming with a solid Sitka Spruce top, dovetail neck join and bone nut and saddle. Furthermore, it has been fitted with Sigma’s Preamp and pickup, which includes a built-in tuner. The result is a real do-it-all guitar - small enough for cosy home playing, but easily gig-able thanks to the pickup system.

Sigma GSME Shortscale Grand Orchestra Electro-Acoustic

Full size guitars can be a little cumbersome, making them tricky to play when, for example, seated on a couch. They can also be a bit of a stretch for those with smaller hands. The Sigma GSME solves both problems in one stroke. Though it has a recognisable Grand Orchestra body shape with 14-fret neck to body join, this has been shrunk by a few inches in length. The body is also shallower than a full-size Grand Orchestra, coming in at about the depth of a 000-sized guitar. The result is a guitar which is familiar in sound and looks, but much more wieldy than its bigger brother. It is perfect for those who want a smaller guitar for home playing or for those with smaller hands. It’s also ideal for someone who just wants an easy-playing everyday guitar.

The GSME’s everyday giggability is confirmed by the inclusion of a preamp and pickup system, which comes complete with a built-in tuner. This system really makes the player’s life so much simpler. Tuning couldn’t be easier - no more digging around for an external clip-on or plug-in tuner; simply switch it on and follow the prompts on the clear, built-in display. When it comes to playing live, all you need to do is plug in with a standard instrument cable and you’ll be ready to fill the biggest auditorium. An external battery compartment makes it very easy to swap in a new battery.

World-famous Sigma Quality

When it comes to value for money, few acoustic guitar brands can touch Sigma. As with all Sigmas, the GSME is a real player’s guitar. The looks are simple - with little in the way of fancy binding and embellishment - but the core features essential for a good guitar are firmly in place. The soundboard is constructed from a piece of solid Sitka Spruce. Unlike a cheaper laminate soundboard, this will mature and improve with age and playing. Furthermore, Sigma uses a bone nut and saddle on all its instruments, as well as a dove tail neck join. Both features ensure optimum resonance transfer into the soundbox. These core features mean that the Sigma GSME Short Scale Grand Orchestra is a fine player’s guitar, which will please even those accustomed to playing much more expensive instruments.
