Seagull S6 Original Slim with solid cedar top

When building an acoustic guitar it is desirable to have a solid wooden top rather than laminate. The Seagull S6 Original Slim has a select pressure tested solid cedar top. This is the part of the instrument that gives it its sound. By testing the cedar top it ensures you are getting the best, stiffest and most resonant piece of wood. Another key feature is the use of a compound curve top. Just above the soundhole the top is slightly arched. Below the soundhole the top is flat for maximum projection and tonality. Solid Adirondack Spruce has been used to brace the top of the Seagull S6 Original slim. It has been quarter sawn ans scalloped to follow perfectly the radius of the top. It is strong yet vibrates freely. The Cedar top on this acoustic guitar has a slightly warmer tone than spruce. I has been bookmatched to ensure a nice even grain. The back and sides have been created using laminated wild cherry. This adds strength to the design and forces the guitar to project more. The whole body, including the top has been given a custom polished finish. This helps the way this acoustic guitar ages. It lets the wood breath for maximum tone. Tapered, reverse headstock

A tapered, reverse headstock is used to add strength and stability. The maple neck wood is cut at a forty five degree angle. The headstock piece is then glued back on at opposing grains. It creates a strong and stable neck. One this you may have also noticed about the Seagull S6 Original Slim is the tapered headstock. This is not done for cosmetic effect. It actually adds tuning stability and helps stop it warping. An Integrated Set Neck design makes a powerful sounding acoustic guitar. It also helps the neck from warping over time as well. A double Function Truss Rod can adjust both ways. It gives you more control over the neck bow. The neck of the Seagull S6 Original Slim has been attached to the body at the optimum angle. By obtaining a solid connection it transfers sound much better.

The body dimensions of the Seagull S6 Original Slim are little bit smaller than a traditional dreadnought. This creates a more versatile instrument. It removes some of the boominess often associated to a dreadnought body shape. It makes for an acoutic guitar that is equally at home for fingerstyle and strumming guitarists.
