This instrument really does take no prisoners. The quality of the parts fitted to it really are top drawer. Not to mention the stunning build quality of the Schecter KM-7 Keith Merrow 7 string guitar. A stunning flamed maple top is on display through the Trans Black Burst Satin finish. Expertly crafted in South Korea, all Schecter Guitars go through a quality control process in the States. This really helps maintain an excellent of build quality. The KM7 is no exception to the rule. The flamed maple top has been fixed to a swamp ash body. The three piece maple neck is set into the body. Multi-ply binding outlines the body and headstock and makes it stand out. The Schecter KM-7 Keith Merrow 7 Trans Black Burst Satin has been given an ebony fretboard with a compound radius. twenty four stainless steel X-Jumbo frets are fitted to it.This flows from twelve to sixteen inches. Another pretty cool feature on the fretboard is the position inlays. It has offset, reverse dots. The dots on the first 12 frets are on the bass side for heavy riffing and past the 12th fret the markers are on the treble side to aid in solo work. The side dots along the top edge of the fretboard glow in the dark too! The play-ability of this 7 string guitar is awesome. An Ultra Thin C shape for greater playing comfort. Great for fast runs. Inside the neck are carbon rails. It helps to reinforce and add strength.
Seymour Duncan Pickups and Hipshot Bridge
Seymour Duncan has been called into action for the pickups. For the bridge position a Seymour Duncan Nazgul has been fitted. This delivers bone crushing distorted tones. It gives the Schecter KM-7 Keith Merrow a high output sound, perfect for low tunings. It still has clarity though. In the neck is a Seymour Duncan Sentinient humbucker. This 7 string guitar pickup is a bit more old school in its voicing. It is more of a PAF style sound. Both pickups are coil tapped through a push/pull volume control. This gives you instant access to single coil tones. It works well through a clean guitar as well as through heavy distortion. Other great hardware includes the Hipshot Hardtail bridge. The Schecter KM7 strings through the body for added power and sustain. Tuning is stable too.
