Schecter Kenny Hickey Solo-6 EX S in Steele Green
Known for his phenomenal guitar work as part of Type O Negative, Silvertomb, and Seventh Void, Kenny Hickey’s weapon of choice has been a Schecter Solo 6 Series axe for years already, so it only makes sense that he gets his own Signature edition. The Schecter Kenny Hickey Solo EX S doesn’t just serve up classic Solo 6 character, but comes dipped in Steel Green and decked out with a matched headstock and block inlays. Besides a forceful colour scheme, we get a 26.5 inch, baritone-style scale length to support a tight feel in drop tunings, and a solid pickup combo where a Seymor Duncan JB sits at the bridge and a Sustainiac has been planted at the neck. The Sustainiac system treats the player to infinite sustain and hair-rasing feedback-effects at the flick of a switch, as if my magic!
The pickup configuration has been teamed up with a three-way toggle switch; a kill switch for spitting stuttering effects; a two-way on/off switch for the Sustainiac pickup, and an extra three-way Sustainiac mode switch to scroll through Fundamental, Mix, and Harmonic settings to inject notes with the right flavour at just the right moment. And, since it’s been the holy grail of metal since the eighties, the Seymour Duncan JB needs no further embellishments. Polished off by the supple playing feel of a 14 inch fretboard radius and a slimmer C-profile neck, the Solo-6 EX S has not just been built for speed but also effortless comfort.
