Credited with being among the world’s most enduring and influential Stoner Rock bands, Fu Manchu has left an indelible mark on this fuzz-fueled genre. Bob Balch’s contribution to the Fu Manchu legacy has spanned 30 years, and his axe of choice is this, his very own Signature Reverend guitar. Powered by twin Railhammer Bob Balch pickups, this guitar looks and sounds a million dollars, while the addition of a Floyd Rose trem system broadens its appeal to more adventurous guitarists.

As with the hard tail Bob Balch Signature, the Bob Balch FR starts with the solid foundation of a Korina body. This lightweight and resonant wood has the added benefit of being highly consistent, making it the perfect basis for producing a world-beating range of guitars. Increasing its resonance in this application is a strategically positioned chamber underneath the pickguard. To this is added a three-piece Korina set neck, resulting in one seamless length of Korina from headstock to tailpiece for optimal tonal transfer.

Mounted to the body are two Railhammer Bob Balch signature pickups, designed by Reverend’s technical mastermind, Joe Naylor. Oversized poles under the treble strings and rails under the bass strings result in optimal tonal response across the frequency spectrum. For Bob Balch’s signature humbucker set, each pickup was optimised for its position. Both have brass covers, resulting in round tones with fat lower mids. Not only do these pickups sound awesome through a fuzz pedal, they equally produce addictively warm and smooth clean tone. Add in Reverend’s unique bass contour control, which passively rolls off the bass frequencies for more sparkle and twang, and you have a truly versatile tone machine.
