This is a more substantial instrument than the open back VPB12, with more volume and focus due to the combination of aluminium shell and mahogany resonator.

Setting these instruments up can be tricky, as the bridge has to be manually positioned on the head. Even at a much higher price, it would be really hard to fault the quality of these Pilgrim banjos; fit and finish is superb, while this closed-back model features a lovely burst finish on the mahogany back. The input of Pilgrim's master instrument-designer Paul Tebbutt is evident, and it's really exciting to see a great old brand revived for the players of today!
