The Larrivee P-05 is a Parlour Guitar from Larrivee’s Select Mahogany Series. This model has a solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. Larrivee builds some of the most consistently outstanding acoustic guitars we stock here at Merchant City Music, and, in-keeping with the company’s philosophy of quality over quantity, they don’t come around that often. Their parlour models are beautiful examples of the breed: diminutive, sweet-sounding, and altogether addictive.

Larrivee’s Select Mahogany Series guitars feature solid African mahogany as their core tonewood. This P-05 model is finished in gloss with an elegant abalone rosette and silver headstock border. Larrivee’s Select Mahogany series Parlour is a premium instrument, making it perfect for the guitarist looking for a luxurious guitar to enjoy at home. It features a scale length of 24”, while the overall size of the instrument is on the small side for even a parlour, ideally suiting it for smaller players too. Parlours were originally designed for use in more intimate performance scenarios, and this modern variant lends itself well to this type of application.

As suggested by the series name, the Select Mahogany Parlour features woods selected both for their beautiful grain and superior tone. The African mahogany back and sides pair beautifully with the Sitka spruce top, the Parlour body producing a lovely sweet and balanced sound. The guitar’s balance also makes it ideal as a recording instrument, though you’ll likely want to take it home when you’re done! In-keeping with Larrivee’s sustainability policy, all woods are FSC certified. Larrivee prides itself on being plugged in to the entire process of producing a finished, hand-made guitar, from log selection on the forest floor to final quality control in their Oxnard, California workshop.

The P-05 features subtle upgrades which benefit both the guitar’s tone and aesthetics. The gloss finish is beautifully applied, exhibiting the premium wood grains to their best effect. The headplate is adorned with a silver border which contrasts beautifully with the ebony headplate wood. Ebony also features on the bridge and fretboard, while the nut, saddle and bridge pins are constructed from bone for optimal resonance and sustain. The elegant luxury of the thin abalone rosette is combined with Larrivee’s signature tortoiseshell pickguard, effectively melding tradition and modernity. Premium "JCL" 18:1 tuners provide the final finishing touch, being both silky smooth and highly accurate.
