By far and away the most popular type of electric guitar strings are a set of 6. Top 6 string brands include Daddario, Ernie Ball, Fender and Rotosound. Most modern solid body electric guitars are set up using nickel plated steel electric strings. Don't overlook full nickel strings though is you need to add a little bit of warmth to your sound. If your guitar needs brightening up though perhaps try a full steel 6 string set. Common for playing jazz and blues, flatwound guitar strings give you a very warm and deadened sound.
