Fender Limited Edition MIJ Traditional 60s Jazzmaster HH in 3-Colour Sunburst
For those who have experienced Fender’s MIJ models, there really can be no going back. These instruments demonstrate an obsessive dedication to the highest levels of build and finish quality; truly world class. As a result, we try to get them in stock whenever possible, which can be challenging due to their still limited availability in the UK. This guitar is even more rarefied, being a highly limited Special Run model.
The Jazzmaster is the undisputed King of Fender’s electric guitar lineup. This MIJ Traditional ‘60s Jazzmaster is designed to evoke the look and feel of the Jazzmasters produced during the guitar's first full decade of production, after its release in 1958 as a premium guitar to top the brand’s range. Since then, its appeal has widened, with guitarists across generations and genres adopting it as their go-to instrument, attracted by its combination of stand-out looks and distinctive tone.
In terms of tone, this Limited Edition model has been modded with two of Fender’s highly desired CuNiFe Humbuckers. Re-released after more than 40 years, these pickups deliver rich bell-like humbucking tone with full bass and clear treble. CuNiFe pickups have “hi-fi” clarity yet never lose their attack and definition no matter how hard they are pushed. A chrome cover with a “3 3” exposed pole piece design and Fender logo completes the vintage-’70s vibe. Sought after by musicians of all genres for decades, the original-era real CuNiFe-magnet pickups disappeared when the Telecaster Custom was discontinued in 1979.
The “U”-shaped neck is thicker than a standard “C”-profile, giving it a nice chunk in the hand, while the Rosewood fretboard has a 9.5” radius for intuitive playability. 21 vintage-style frets span the ‘board, with a 25.5” scale length allowing a certain level of twang, usually associated with Fender guitars.
We really can’t help loving this Special Run MIJ Traditional ‘60s Jazzmaster here at Merchant City Music. With its limited ediiton features and stunning build quality, its future owner will always stand out from the crowd.
