Ernie Ball
Ernie Ball are legendary. Every guitarist has heard of slinky strings. In the 1960s Ernie Ball spotted a gap in the market. Rock and pop music was evolving and guitarists were starting to experiment. Different instruments and playing styles were starting to emerge. We have them for sale online and in our Glasgow shop. We offer a speedy dispatch and delivery service.
Ernie Ball Strings are easier to play
What was it about Ernie Ball strings that were unique? Well there were a number of things. In the 60s there wasn't a massive range of guitar strings to choose from like there is now. Most electric guitars came with pretty heavy gauges. The jazz world tended to use big heavy flatwounds. Great for chord playing and quick runs. They were pretty difficult to bend notes with though. Rock guitarists were desperately trying to find lighter gauges to play. Roland Sherwood Ball, Ernie Ball, was an entrepreneur. He opened one of the first dedicated guitar stores in the world in California. Criticised at the time for being too specialist. This was the launch pad for many of his world renowned products. Ernie Ball Slinky electric guitar strings were the most famous of those. In the 60s Ball began to notice beginners were having trouble playing with the strings that were available. He approached Fender about that time to suggest a lighter gauge might be more suitable. They weren't interested. He decided to do it himself then. After persuading one of the manufacturers to create him custom gauges he started to sell his electric guitar strings in his shop. Again, as demand grew he once again asked Fender and they knocked him back. He also tried Gibson and they weren't interested either. This is how Ernie Ball Slinky Guitar Strings were born. They were soon taken up by touring guitarists and travelled round the States and beyond.
Ernie Ball Slinky Strings
Ernie Ball Slinky electric guitar strings are the most well known of all. With catchy names and bright packaging they stand out a mile. A very clever bit of marketing in fact. Fortunately though Ernie Ball Strings have the performance to back this up. The nickel wound electric guitar strings are bright and will liven up the dullest of instruments. The packaging they come in contains an Element Shield. This means the strings stay fresh, right from the factory.
