Blackstar Fly 3 Mini Battery Guitar Amp

The Blackstar Fly 3 Mini is a battery or mains operated guitar amp. It is the perfect desktop amplifier that also works extremely well for music. As well as clean and overdrive tones it includes effects. We were blown away by the quality of sound when we first gave it a review at Merchant City Music. The Blackstar Fly 3 Mini amp is compact and runs on batteries or mains.

The top panel of this amplifier reveals an excellent selection of features. Extremely comprehensive for something this small. The Blackstar Fly 3 features Gain, Volume, EQ and Delay controls. A smaller push button can be engaged to switch to the overdrive channel. The EQ control contains the Blackstar ISF technology. This means you can change the character of the amp from being more British or American sounding. It also covers everything else in between. Beside the delay Time knob you can also control the level. This is a mini dial that is easy to tweak. Also on the top panel are a single guitar input, an MP3/Line In and and a Headphones/Emulated Out. The emulated out means you could use this little amplifier to record direct into a desk. It also much improves the headphone listening quality. The line in lets you easily hook up your music. Looking at the back reveals the battery compartment, external speaker socket and a DC in socket. The overall design of the Blackstar Fly 3 just screams quality. It feels substantial and doesn't look gimmicky or toy-like. A 3 inch speaker is housed in the front.

Plugging in to the Blackstar Fly 3 Mini it feels solid and stable. Not something that would be easily yanked off your desk top. It is the tone that really impresses though. It sounds like a proper guitar amp! Pretty spectacular really when you look at how small it is. The tone in fact is in comparison with the excellent Blackstar ID:Core range. They share some of that DNA. Particularly the ID:Core 10. The Fly uses the same three inch speaker. It also sounds brilliant with music. The delay effect is perfect for adding a little space into the sound of your guitar. Also, the Blackstar Fly 3 can be hooked up to an extension speaker. The 103 Extension Cab. It converts it into a 6 watt stereo amp.
